On 13th November, 2019, Consul General Tang Zhongdong met with Ms. Mbali Hlophe, MEC for sport‚ arts‚ culture and recreation in Gauteng province. They had a conversation on promoting exchanges in youth, culture, and arts between China and South Africa.

Consul General Tang pointed out that young people play a vital role in the development of the country. The Chinese Consulate-General in Johannesburg is willing to actively promote the exchanges between young people of the two countries. To this end, the Consulate-General plans to organize activities such as a special film reception and a symposium to promote friendship among the youth and raise their patriotic awareness.

MEC Hlophe strongly agrees with Mr. Tang's proposal and is willing to actively cooperate with relevant activities. She appreciates the Chinese people's diligence, dedication, patriotism and people-centered approach. She believes that South Africa needs to learn from China in aspects such as traditional culture promotion, talent training, as well as governance. She hopes to visit China to have a firsthand experience of China's development in the coming year.
