On 6th November, 2019, Consul General Tang Zhongdong met with the delegation led by Mr. Wu Desheng, Vice Mayor of Jinan City and Head of Jinan Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Mr. Wu briefed their intended exchanges with Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and field trips to the police stations during this visit. He also introduced their works on cracking down on illegal crimes in Jinan city.

Mr. Tang warmly welcomed the delegation to SA to carry out law enforcement exchanges. He briefly introduced the relevant security situation in Johannesburg as well, the South Africa Chinese Community in the consular district, and the Consular protection work conducted by the Consulate-General.

Mr. Tang said that since Ambassador Lin Songtian took office, he has been committed to helping the South African government to build a safe, prosperous and inclusive South Africa. China and South Africa have great potential for police cooperation. The Consulate-General in Johannesburg will work closely with the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and domestic departments of China in preventive protection to promote pragmatic cooperation between China and South Africa.
