On August 14, Consul General Pan Qingjiang attended the awarding ceremony of the “South Africa & China: More Connected Than We Think” Short Video Competition, hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg. The event was attended by over one hundred representatives from the winning learners, teachers, families, local education departments and the media.

In his speech, Consul General Pan said that the friendship between China and Africa, and between China and South Africa, enjoys a long-standing history, with bilateral cooperation having grown robustly across various sectors in recent years. As one of the events celebrating the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the competition concluded with great success, demonstrating young learners' strong interest and active participation in promoting China-Africa and China-South Africa friendship. The Consulate will continue to facilitate people-to-people and youth exchanges between the two countries.
Participating guests expressed their appreciation to the Consulate for offering a platform for youth development and engagement, and reaffirmed their willingness to enhance communication and deepen bilateral cooperation in cultural, educational and other relevant fields.
The event featured screenings of outstanding entries, performances, and Chinese culture-experience programs, and echoed with warm and positive response.
