“South Africa & China: More Connected Than We Think”

Short Video Competition Notice

1. Overview:

To celebrate China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and South Africa’s Youth Month, the Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg (CCGJ) is launching “South Africa & China: More Connected Than We Think” Short Video Competition. This event aims to encourage learners to creatively explore the growing friendship and people-to-people exchanges between South Africa and China, to foster a deeper understanding of China and South Africa’s technology and cultures.

South Africa and China are already connected in many ways through everyday life, products, music, technology, creativity and youth culture. This competition invites learners to help identify and creatively showcase those connections through short videos. Learners are encouraged to explore how Chinese and South African products, brands and modern youth experiences already form part of everyday life and global connection. They will create a 2-3 minute video demonstrating their skills as a youth ambassador who can present, research, and educate others about the strong relationship between China and South Africa.

2. Competition Theme:

Learners are invited to creatively introduce a Chinese brand they know or use in everyday life. This may include technology, vehicles, electronics or other products that are recognized in South Africa. Through this theme, learners are encouraged to learn more about Chinese innovation, technology and modern brands, which already have strong market recognition in South Africa.
