From March 18th to 22nd, 2026, the delegation led by Ms. Morakane Mosupyoe, Speaker of Gauteng Provincial Legislature of the Republic of South Africa, paid an official visit to Hunan Province in China. During the visit, Mr. Hu Xusheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress, met with the delegation and exchanged views on deepening exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies and in other fields. The Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress and Gauteng Provincial Legislature signed a Memorandum of Understanding after the meeting. The two sides also held a symposium and exchanged views on law-making, oversight, rural revitalization, public participation and capacity building. The Speaker also visited the grassroots liaison station for NPC deputies, the permanent exhibition hall of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, and key enterprises and institutions in Hunan.
