On November 17, 2025, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg, attended the 10th Anniversary of the Confucius Institute at University of Johannesburg(UJCI) & the Award Ceremony of the First Chinese Song Contest. Around 200 people were present, including Prof. Phaswana, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of University of Johannesburg, Prof. Gu Xuehong, Vice President of Nanjing Tech University, Co-Directors of UJCI, teachers and learners.

In his remarks, Consul General Pan appreciated the Confucius Institute for its positive work and encouraged its continued contributions to people-to-people exchanges between China and South Africa. He also encouraged South African youth to learn more Chinese, deepen understanding of Chinese culture and China's modernization, and become envoys of China-South Africa friendship.
