On August 27th, 2024, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg met with Mr. Mxolisi Dukwanat, the newly elected Speaker of Free State Provincial legislature in Bloemfontein. Mr. PAN congratulated the Speaker on his election and thanked him for his consistent commitment to the development of relations with China and subnational cooperation. Mr. PAN briefed on the upcoming Beijing Summit of the FOCAC and the friendly cooperation between China and Free State Province, saying that the Chinese Consulate General is ready to work hand in hand with the new provincial legislature to implement the important consensus reached by the Presidents of China and South Africa, further promote subnational exchanges and people-to-people friendship between the two sides. Dukwana highly appreciated the great achievements China has made through its path to modernization, expressing that he is willing to continue to actively advance friendly cooperation with China, learn from China's governance experience, translating the bilateral relations and cooperations into more tangible results to the people.

Mr. Pan also met with the Director General of Free State Provincial Government on the same day. The two sides exchanged views on the furtherance of bilateral exchanges.
