On August 1, 2024, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg, met with Free State Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane in Bloemfontein. The two sides exchanged views on the local security situation, safeguarding the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese institutions and personnel, and ensuring normal economic, trade and personnel exchanges between China and South Africa. Mr. Pan thanked the provincial police for their work and expressed his hope to continue to strengthen communication and exchanges. Motswenyane expressed great appreciation on the contribution made by the Consulate General, Chinese enterprises and Chinese community to local economic and social development, saying that she will, as always, take measures to safeguard the safety of local Chinese institutions and citizens.
