On February 10, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg, on behalf of Chen Xiaodong, Ambassador to South Africa, attended the "2024 South African Chinese New Year Reception " hosted by the South Africa Chinese Community & Police Cooperation Centre. About one thousand representatives from both local and Chinese communities attended this event.

In his speech, Consul General Pan extended New Year wishes to the South African Chinese and hoped that through celebrating the Spring Festival together, different civilizations could coexist in harmony, accomplish mutual exchange and learn from each other, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind. Consul General Pan spoke highly of China-South Africa relations and sub-national cooperation, introduced China's development achievements, and thanked the South African Chinese for their contributions to China-South Africa friendship and the development of the motherland. He said that the Chinese embassy and consulates in South Africa will actively practice the principle of “Diplomacy for the People” and serve as the strong support for the South African Chinese.
